Juneteenth is an opportunity to celebrate freedom for formerly enslaved Africans in America.  In Galveston, Texas, 2 and 1/2 years after the passing of the Emancipation Proclamation, some 250,000 enslaved people were unaware that slavery had ended in America until June 19, 1865 when General Gordon Granger made the announcement that slavery had ended.  The newly freed people celebrated on this day which led to Juneteenth celebrations worldwide. Includes Booker T. Washington, Black Codes, Jim Crow, and more!  For Ages 8 to 88!
